Cocktail barman Kevin Murphy came up with a long, slow money-spinner...

Kevin, 21, worked as a cocktail waiter at Ritzy’s former nightspot in Arundel Street.

But he was determined to make use of some time off by walking between major cities to raise thousands of pounds.

He hoped to be joined on sections of the route – between Newport, South Wales, Stoke, Nottingham and London – by other Mecca employees.

Kevin, from Southsea, said: ‘I’ve been walking to Havant and back for training.

‘I’m setting off on May 4 and plan to be back in Portsmouth by May 25.’
