THIS WEEK IN 1990: Residents angered by police party decision
Nearly 100 angry residents called police to complain about noise from up to 300 people at a party held at Fort Widley.
Phone calls were received from residents at Purbrook, Bedhampton, Farlington, Fareham and Widley.

Hide AdSuperintendent Bob Dawes of Cosham police said people were objecting to the loud noise which woke them in the middle of the night and continued until 5.30am.
One woman, who did not wish to be identified, said: ‘We were awoken just after 3am by a hell of a din and went out to see exactly what was going on. People nearby must have been deafened by the noise.’
Supt Dawes confirmed that the loud party music was later turned down on request.
After the party three people were arrested and equipment was confiscated.
