Firefighters rescue pet dog after kitchen fire

FIREFIGHTERS rescued a dog from a house fire.

One appliance from Gosport attended a call out at 12.30pm on Sunday after a neighbour heard a smoke alarm ringing in Middleway Park.

Crew manager Kavanagh said: ‘We could smell smoke and heard a dog whimpering.

‘We had to break the door in as nobody was home.

‘The hob was left on and a colander had melted. We used a pressure fan to remove all of the smoke from the house.

‘The neighbour was so helpful, alerting us right away.

‘Another neighbour said the alarm had been going off for some time.

‘If you hear a fire alarm ringing, please don’t ignore it as it could be very serious.’
