First Bus offers free travel to Armed Forces on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day

Current and former members of the military will need to show the bus driver their Armed Forces ID to get free travel

Armed Forces personnel, cadets and veterans will get free travel on all First Bus routes on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day.

Current and former members of the military will need to show the bus driver their Armed Forces ID or wear their medals or uniform on Remembrance Sunday on November 8 and Armistice Day on November 11.

If safe to do so, First Bus drivers will also pull over at 11am on both days to observe the two minutes’ silence.

First Bus has joined the Heroes Network, a new initiative from charity Help for Heroes, which will strengthen access to specialist advice for ex-military colleagues building new careers with the bus operator.

Rob Pymm, Director of Customer Proposition at First Bus, said: “We have many colleagues who have served in the military or have friends and family connections, so this is always a poignant time of the year.

“We hope free travel on our services will make it as easy as possible for as many veterans, serving personnel and cadets to attend Remembrance services and events in their region.

“The patience of customers in helping our drivers to pay their respects is much appreciated.”
