LIVE: Chaos as flooding results in lane closure on B2145 and A259 with "severe delays" on A27 as a result

Flooding caused chaos on three main roads on Thursday as a lane closure resulted in “severe delays”.
One lane remains closed between the B2145 and A259, near Chichester, on December 18 with drivers facing considerable congestion throughout the day. Work to clear the flooding overran overnight and despite best efforts to clear the flooded area it was unsuccessful due to heavy rainfall.
National Highways South East wrote on X, saying: “Lane 1 (of 2) remains closed on the A27 eastbound between the #B2145 (#WhykeRbt) & #A259 (#Chichester) due to flooding.
“Despite efforts by crews at scene the flood water remains due to the heavy rainfall in the area. Please continue to allow extra travel time if in the area.”
