Live traffic updates as M27 remains closed between junctions 9 and 11 as major upgrade work continues

Hampshire County Council are warning of further delays for drivers today with the M27 junction upgrade work continuing today.

The motorway remains closed in both directions on Tuesday, December 30 between junctions 9 and 11 with the works expected to be completed by January 4 at 4am. Having been closed since Christmas Eve, drivers have experienced delays on the approach to the closure as well as on the diversion route along the A27.

Hampshire County Council have advised drivers to expect further delays today and to only travel if necessary.

A council spokesperson said: “With more people on the roads today (Monday, December 29), we’ve seen more traffic on the A27 official diversion route especially from mid-morning and we are expecting similar traffic volumes tomorrow (Tuesday, December 30).

“Please continue to check before you travel and decide if your journey is necessary to minimise delays.”

The project has already reached a number of significant mile-stones, including the completion of Hampshire’s first box slide and 8,500 tonne cement underpass. Engineers are now continuing their work to backfill either side of the 65 metre concreate underpass to cement its position.
