M27 crash causes delays of 20 minutes near Portsmouth

DRIVERS faced delays of up to 20 minutes on the M27 this morning after a three-vehicle crash.

The westbound collision occurred between J12 of the M27 for the M275, at Portsmouth, and J11 for the A27, at Fareham.

Although the incident was cleared by 8am, Hampshire traffic service Romanse said delays of at least 20 minutes remained.

Highways England said the crash left one of the vehicles in the outside lane and another on the hard shoulder.

Video footage captured by a passer-by shows three cars – a Ford, a Seat and a Citroen – on the hard shoulder with an ambulance.

A spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service said: ‘I can confirm we were called this morning to the M27 to a collision involving three vehicles.

‘We had an ambulance crew on scene but thankfully no-one was injured.’

Live traffic maps from Google showed westbound congestion from the A27 at Farlington to the M27 near Portchester after the accident.

It also caused traffic to move slowly out of Portsmouth on the M275.
