M27: Vehicle fire update after two lanes closed and four miles of queues
Vehicle fire caused long delays
All lanes are open on the M27 after a vehicle was “completely destroyed” in a fire.
As reported, the incident led to two lanes being closed eastbound between junction 10 and 11 around 8.30am on Wednesday. No one was hurt during the blaze that caused four mile delays.

A Hampshire fire service spokesperson said previously: “Crews from Fareham and Cosham were called shortly after 8.30am this morning to a vehicle fire on the M27 eastbound between junctions 10 and 11.
“The vehicle was completely destroyed, and crews extinguished the blaze using multiple hose reel jets. A stop message was issued around 9.30am, and crews returned to station shortly after.”
Now AA Traffic News has said all lanes are open again: “Earlier car fire on M27 Eastbound from J9 A27 Segensworth Link Road (Segensworth / Fareham) to J10 A32 Wickham Road (Wickham). All lanes have been re-opened. Traffic is coping well.”
