More travel disruption between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight

There is more travel disruption today between Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight as a result of a technical fault on the FastCat.

The FastCat between Portsmouth Harbour and Ryde has been suspended until 4.15pm this evening (Sunday, August 30) after the Wightlink team discovered a fault with the exhaust manifold which also disrupted yesterday’s services.

A Wightlink statement said: “Hovertravel will be running extra flights every 15 minutes throughout the day and they are happy to accept Wightlink Tickets.

“All Wightlink tickets and passes will continue to be accepted on our Portsmouth to Fishbourne car ferry service.

“Our engineering teams are working hard to complete the necessary repairs and safely return the vessel to service as soon as possible.

“If there are any changes to this situation or services can resume earlier than expected, we will provide a further update as soon as possible.

“We sincerely apologise for the disruption to your travel plans and thank you for your patience and understanding.”

The service is particularly busy this weekend as a result of Victorious Festival.
