Missing Widley man makes telephone call home

THE mother of missing Andrew Salt has confirmed he made a very brief telephone call to let his family know he is okay.

The 22-year-old, from Widley, was last seen more than a week ago when his mother Lisa dropped him off in Morrison’s car park, Landport, under the impression he was going to visit a friend in the city. In fact, he boarded a ferry to St Malo without money or a mobile phone.

A huge appeal began on both sides of The Channel and his family went to France to try and find him.

While Mrs Salt was there he called home. She said: ‘My partner spoke to him but all Andrew said was that he was okay and would call in a few days. We’ve heard nothing since. In a way I’m relieved but I’m also still panicking. He wouldn’t even leave a number.

‘Now it is down to him to come home or to make contact with us.’
