Pictures of Gregson Avenue scene following 'serious' crash which resulted in day long road closure

Barriers and police signage have gone up at the scene of a ‘serious’ crash in Gosport.

Gregson Avenue was closed in both directions between Prideaux-Brune Avenue and Chatfield Road yesterday (October 17. The closure was a result of serious crash and the road remained closed for the majority of the day.

Emergency services received a report of a collision just before 8:20am and the air ambulance was spotted arriving at the scene.

A spokesperson for Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary previously said: “We are currently in attendance at a serious collision on Gregson Avenue.”

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance also confirmed that the air ambulance team, consisting of a doctor and two specialist paramedics, were deployed by helicopter and a further specialist paramedic by car the crash.

The road has since opened and a police appeal sign has gone up at the scene, appealing for information. Orange barriers have also gone up at the side of the road to replace missing railing on the bridge.

The police are due expected to provide an update as to what happened in due course.
