"Problem" scuppering Portsmouth trains towards London Waterloo as line between Hilsea and Havant blocked
Cancellations and delays are plaguing the Portsmouth railway network this evening.
South Western Railway (SWR) reports that services are being impacted due to a infrastructure issue between Hilsea and Havant. This is affecting the trains heading towards Guildford and London Waterloo, with a section of the line being blocked.
“Due to a signalling problem between Hilsea and Havant the line towards Guildford is blocked,” SWR said on its website. “Train services running through these stations may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 10pm.
“We don't know when the line is expected to reopen. As a result, trains from Portsmouth to London Waterloo via Guildford may be diverted via Basingstoke. As the investigations are ongoing this may change but we will update you if it does.”
“If you need any help with your journey, please speak to a member of staff or use a station help point. We are very sorry for any disruption to your journey.”
