Rail disruption expected all day because of signalling fault between Fratton and Hilsea

South Western Railway said the fault, originating between Fratton and Hilsea, is expected to cause disruption until the end of the day.
Trainline’s live departure board shows some services between the stations and London Waterloo, London Victoria, Southampton Central and Cardiff Central have been affected.

Hide AdWhile services to these destinations will continue to run from Portsmouth Harbour and Portsmouth and Southsea, passengers had been advised no northbound services will be stopping at Hilsea.
Others scheduled to call at Fratton are facing delays as trains are forced to run at reduced speeds.
Passengers have been advised to check live schedules in advance of their journeys, with the possibility of changes at short notice.
South Western Railway said on its website: ‘Trains heading towards Havant/Fareham will not stop at Hilsea. Passengers wishing to alight at Hilsea should change at Bedhampton/Havant/Cosham. Services towards Portsmouth Harbour are stopping at Hilsea as advertised.

It said tickets for its services can also be used on:
- Southern Rail services between Portsmouth Harbour and Clapham Junction
- GWR services between Portsmouth Harbour and Southampton Central
- Stagecoach bus services 20, 21, 23 and 700 in the Portsmouth-Fareham-Havant areas.
Replacement buses will run between Southampton Central and Fareham, calling at all stops from 9am onwards.
