Revealed: Portsmouth's 10 worst-polluted roads

Portsmouth's ten most polluted roads have been revealed in a report to the city council.

Pollution from cars has the biggest effect on air quality

The list shows roads that exceeded or came close to the guidleine limit set by the Government and the EU of 40 micrograms of nitrogen dioxide to a cubic metre of air.

It comes as the council is warned that air pollution in Portsmouth is reaching unsafe levels.

1. Stanley Road in Stamshaw - 46.06ug/m3

2. Lord Montgomery Way, Southsea - 44.33ug/m3

3. London Road, North End - 43.12ug/m3

4. Kingston Road, Buckland - 41.79ug/m3

5. Fratton Road, Fratton - 36.32ug/m3

6. Albert Road, Southsea - 35.28ug/m3

7. Velder Avenue, Milton - 35.08ug/m3

8. Northern Road, Cosham - 34.98ug/m3

9. Commercial Road, Landport - 34.65ug/m3

10. Mile End Road, Buckland - 34.31ug/m3
