Southampton man arrested after Itchen Bridge collision leaves pedestrian with life-threatening injury

A Southampton man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving after a collision on the Itchen Bridge left a pedestrian with a life-threatening head injury.

Officers attended after a collision on the Itchen Bridge, involving a motorcycle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man in his 50s from Southampton, has suffered a life-threatening head injury, and he was taken to hospital where he is receiving treatment.

As part of the police investigation, the motorcycle rider, a 31-year-old man from Southampton, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He remains in custody at this time.

A spokesperson for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision, in particular anyone who may have dash-cam footage.
