Woman, 70, seriously hurt in Havant accident

A woman aged 70 suffered serious head injuries in an accident in Havant today.

She was involved in an accident with a car on a pedestrian crossing near the roundabout outside Havant College .

There were delays on all approaches including Petersfield Road and Park Road North.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: ‘We were called this morning at 8.04am following reports of an approximately 70-year-old female being hit by a car on a pedestrian crossing at the junction of Elmleigh Road and Leigh Road in Havant. We sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances and an officer to the scene.

‘The patient sustained a serious head injury and a right shoulder injury and was taken to Southampton General Hospital.’

Hampshire Police said the woman pedestrian was intitally on the road unconcious after the the car - a Vauxhall Astra - but came round before being taken to hospital.
