A taxi driver, who has worked in the city for 40 years, said: 'It’s really good that Albert Road rank could be made 24 hours. It will help prevent people parking in the spaces because the fines don’t seem to be enough to deter them.

‘All these are changes we’ve asked for for a long time.’

The proposed changes are:

- Cambridge Road, south east by Union building: taxi stand to be removed.

- Edinburgh Road, south side between Stanhope Road and Commercial Road: reduce the number of cars.

- Fountain Street, feeder stand for Edinburgh Road: reduce the number of cars.

- Gunwharf Quays Service Road: remove a kerb barrier.
