Lorry gets stuck across major Portsmouth road due to 'seized clutch'

DRIVERS experienced ‘significant’ delays todaynote-0after a lorry became stuck across a road in Buckland.

A HGV for Quality Fruit & Veg Ltd was left stranded across Kingston Road between Washington Road and Queens Road at around midday and was due to a ‘seized clutch’.

Tweets from Portsmouth Roads said: ‘Vehicle had suffered seized clutch, this has been released and the vehicle has now been moved off of the Highway. Road is reopen however residual delays remain.’

Workers reported no damage to the vehicle or goods inside.

Portsmouth Roads tweeted earlier: ‘Vehicle is immobilised and is unable to move. It is expected that the recovery operation may take some time to complete. Local diversions are being put in place. Bus routes will be altered and are likely to be delayed.’

Workers on the lorry said that there had been no lasting damage to the truck and that nobody had been hurt.
