M27 blocked between Fareham and Southampton due to 'police incident'

Motorists are facing lenghty delays on the M27 this evening.

The motorway is currently blocked on both carriageways between junction 9 for Fareham and junction 8 for Southampton.

Romanse, Hampshire County Council’s traffic account, has reported delays of 30 minutes in both directions.

Highways England have said that there is an ongoing ‘police incident’.

In a tweet the account wrote: ‘The M27 in Hampshire is currently blocked in both directions between J8 Southampton and J9 due to an ongoing police incident. Updates to follow.’

ROMANSE added: ‘M27 - Both carriageways remain CLOSED due to an RTI between J8 and J9, approx delays of 30 minutes in both directions.’

The incident was first reported by ROMANSE at 6pm.
