M27 crash causing severe hour-long delays between Fareham and Portsmouth

A CRASH has caused long delays on the M27 this evening.

The incident happened on the eastbound carriageway and motorists were earlier warned of disruptions of one hour on the motorway.

Two lanes were blocked between junction 11 for Fareham and junction 12 for Port Solent, near Portsmouth.

Delays stretched back to junction 9 for Park Gate.

AA Traffic reported that the delays were ‘severe’, with the average speed being 5mph.

Romanse, Hampshire County Council’s traffic account, is also reporting very long delays on the M27 this evening.

The two lanes have now been cleared.

In a post on Twitter, they wrote: ‘M27 Eastbound - Lanes 2 and 3 now BLOCKED between J11/A27 Fareham and J12/M275 Port Solent due to RTI, approx 1 HOUR delay from J9/A27 ParkGate.’

The incident was first reported at around 2.30pm according to AA Traffic.
