M3 closure: Motorway to reopen shortly, says Highways England

The northbound side of the road between junction 12 for Chandler’s Ford and junction 11 for Winchester was closed shortly after 11am today after what has been described as a ‘serious’ accident.

Only one vehicle was involved, but no more details have been released.

Drivers were stuck in tailbacks and a diversion had to be put in.

Earlier the authorities were talking about the road being closed ‘for the foreseeable future’ but it is due to reopen soon, as Highways England has confirmed that its contractors are clearing the carriageway.
