Overturned car outside Fareham fire station causes delays

A CAR has flipped after hitting a bollard outside Fareham fire station this morning.

The Mazda CX3 overturned on to its right side, leaving the driver trapped, outside Fareham Fire Station in Station Road at 8:30am, firefighters said.

Hampshire County Council’s travel update service ROMANSE tweeted: ‘A27 #Fareham Eastbound – one lane BLOCKED due to an overturned vehicle on The Avenue near Gudge Heath Lane and Fire Station, delays building on the approach.’

The female driver is reported to have suffered an injury during the incident.

Firefighter Paul Danowski said: ‘She had quite a bad cut to her hand. We got her out of the side door of the car.’

The bollard outside the fire station had repeatedly been involved in collisions, according to the firefighter.

He said: ‘The driver she had hit the bollard.

‘We have quite a few cars hit the bollard. We have raised the point a few times.’
