Pensioner driving Morgan Plus Four car dies in Havant crash

A PENSIONER died in a fatal road collision in Havant last night.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Portsdown Hill Road and Nelson Road at 9pm yesterday.

A Morgan Plus 4, a classic-style sports car, crashed into a lamppost and turned over.

The driver, a 70-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for Hampshire Constabulary said: ‘We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Havant.

‘The single vehicle collision took place just after 9pm on Friday, July 10 in Portsdown Hill Road.

‘The vehicle, a grey Morgan Plus Four, was in collision with a lamppost on a crossing island and overturned.

‘[The driver’s] next of kin have been informed.

‘We are investigating the circumstances of this incident and would like to hear from anyone who saw the collision or the vehicle prior to the collision.’
