All lines to and from Portsmouth and Southsea station were blocked while emergency services attended the scene.

Paramedics spent more than an hour at the railway station, before the woman was escorted out close to midnight.

A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service added: ‘We sent a rapid response vehicle, two ambulances, a paramedic team leader and our Hazardous Area Response Team to the location.

‘The patient was a woman believed to be in her 30s who was under the train on our arrival but did not appear to have sustained serious injuries.
