Police rescue 'distressed young person' on A3(M) bridge

POLICE have thanked motorists for stopping on the A3(M) while they dealt with an incident of a young person ‘in distress’.

Traffic on both sides of the carriageway had to be stopped on Wednesday night to ensure the person could be led to safety.

A statement on police team’s Facebook page said: ‘Thank you everyone who stopped on the A3 moments ago whilst we helped a young person in distress get the support they needed and brought them back on the right side of the bridge.

The statement also urged anyone who is struggling with mental health to contact the Samaritans by dialling 116 123.
