Hampshire County Council introduced online tip bookings earlier this month, with Portsmouth bookings for the Port Solent tip going live last week.

Drivers have been instructed to book their visits to the tip in advance, in a bid to cut down on the traffic queues that have been building up since they reopened.

Hampshire County Council has expanded its appointment service, but appointments are still limited.

Where are the tips?

The Paulsgrove Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) run by Portsmouth City Council is at Port Solent. To get there, drive along Port Way until you reach the roundabout by the Odeon car park, then take the first exit.

Of Hampshire County Council's tips, Gosport’s is off Grange Road; drivers should turn off at the entrance to Alver Valley, then take the first left.

For Havant residents, their nearest recycling centre is in Harts Farm Way, to the south of the A27.

The tip in Waterlooville is on the way to Denmead; turn off Hambledon Road at Darnel Road, by the retirement complex, then follow the road down.

Hayling Island tip is in Fishery Lane, Bishop’s Waltham’s is in Claylands Road and Segensworth is off Barnes Wallis Road.
