Woman dies after car crashes into lamppost on A27 in Sussex

A WOMAN has died after a crash on the A27 this weekend.

The car the 24-year-old was driving crashed into a lamppost and then a crash barrier on the westbound carriageway of the road at Patcham, Sussex, at around 7.40am yesterday.

The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, suffered serious injuries.

She was treated by paramedics but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have been informed.

The A27 was closed in both directions on Sunday following the crash to enable rescue and recovery work to take place.

No other vehicle was involved.
