Violent past disclosure figures welcomed

Hampshire police received 181 application under Clare’s Law, making 78 disclosures, between March and December 2014.

Speaking in the House of Commons, Fareham MP Suella Fernandes said: ‘Domestic violence is not always physical.

‘It can be psychological and emotional, which is why we have introduced a new offence of coercive and controlling behaviour.

‘Of course, all those numbers mean nothing to women and girls who are still suffering abuse, and it is for them that I speak today.’
