We Can Do It: Just over a week to go until our big awards show at New Theatre Royal

There is now just over a week to go until The News annual We Can Do It awards ceremony '“ and you can still be a part of it.

The eagerly-awaited event, sponsored by Colas, is being held at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth on Sunday, November 27.

Entry is free and tickets are available from the New Theatre Royal box office on (023) 9264 9000. Doors open at 1.30pm, with the awards starting at 2pm.

Below are the shortlists in each of the 10 categories.

The ceremony will include entertainment from Abstract Youth Dance Company, alongside a performance from The News’ Instant Star talent contest winner, teenage singer Paige Brooker.

The 16-year-old said: ‘It feels great to be a part of the awards because I love performing and it’s a beautiful theatre, but I’m also quite nervous!’

Paige, from Purbrook, will reprise her winning rendition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables at the ceremony.

She added: ‘Any contribution to the community is great, because it helps communities expand and be something better for our future generations.’

Over the past 12 months people have been nominating modest individuals and groups who make a difference to the 
lives of others and who are happy to go the extra mile to help out for no reward.
