Flood alert has been issued for Portsmouth for today
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
The Environment Agency (EA) has put a ‘Flooding is possible - be prepared’ alert in place until 5pm today.
It has been issued due to the tide being ‘higher than normal’ in Portsmouth.

Hide AdIn the alert, the EA says: ‘For 1 hour either side of high water, in Old Portsmouth, the tide may just exceed the top of the main slipway, causing minor road flooding in East Street and disruption to the boat yards at The Camber.
‘Spray overtopping of defence walls at Southsea promenade is also expected. After tomorrow, no further impacts are expected.
‘To protect property in Old Portsmouth, tidal defence gates will be closed. Avoid walking through floodwater.’
According to the Met Office’s latest forecast for Portsmouth, winds will reach speeds of 41mph at around 3pm.
A flood alert for Fareham to Portchester is also in force.
Flood alerts mean people should be prepared for flooding. This can be upgraded to a flood warning, where flooding is expected and immediate action is required.
