Four more thunderstorm warnings issued for Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant, Fareham, Waterlooville and Hayling Island

The Met Office had originally issued yellow weather alerts for up to Thursday.

However they have now published warnings for Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The yellow alerts have been issued for Portsmouth, Gosport, Havant, Fareham, Waterlooville and Hayling Island.

On its website the Met Office says: ‘Further heavy showers and thunderstorms are expected at times and may lead to some flooding or travel disruption.

‘There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with potential for damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes and large hail.

‘Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services.

‘Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

‘There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost.’

According to the latest forecast from BBC Weather, thunderstorms are set for the Portsmouth area tonight and tomorrow.
