Here's what the weather will be like in Portsmouth following Storm Dennis

PORTSMOUTH was battered by a storm for the second weekend running.

Storm Dennis, following in the wake of Ciara, brought more gale force winds and disruptions as well as heavy rain.

Weather warnings were in place for much of the weekend.

But what can we expect in the coming days? Here’s what the forecasters are saying:

The Met Office has said that although the severe weather associated with Storm Dennis has passed, there is further wet and windy weather to come this week.

However the forecaster have not formally named a storm as of yet. The next one on the list would be Storm Ellen.

Rain and increasingly strong winds will move in from the west on Wednesday morning spreading across the whole of the UK through the day, the Met Office has said.

Chief meteorologist Andy Page said: ‘Further rain will arrive on Wednesday evening and this is likely to become prolonged and possibly heavy over areas of high ground.

‘For example, there is a chance that 60mm of rain could fall in parts of south Wales over 24 hours.

‘With the ground already saturated there is a chance of further flooding, members of the public should check their flood risk and stay up to date with flood warnings from Natural Resources Wales, SEPA, NI Direct and the Environment Agency.’

The Met Office has issued its prediction for the rest of the week in the city.

Tuesday – Clear changing to cloudy by lunchtime – highs of 10C

Wednesday – Partly cloudy changing to light rain by lunchtime – highs of 9C

Thursday – Light showers changing to clear by early evening – with winds of 47mph – highs of 10C

Friday – Clear changing to cloudy by lunchtime – highs of 10C

Saturday – Light rain changing to overcast by late morning – highs of 11C

Sunday – Overcast – highs of 11C
