Portsmouth set for more sunshine - but showers threaten May bank holiday weekend

THE glorious sunshine is set to last into next week – but there is a slight chance of heavy showers as Portsmouth heads into the bank holiday weekend, the Met Office has warned.

The weather forecast over this coming Friday until the following Sunday will be dominated by a high pressure system – meaning largely dry and fine conditions, with a slight chance of heavy rain.

A long term forecast from the Met Office has warned that ‘there is a slight chance of heavy rain and showers also arriving into southern areas’ after this coming Friday.

The forecast added that later in the outlook there is ‘an increased likelihood of more unsettled periods with showers or longer spells of rain’.

In the short term, Portsmouth is set to enjoy clear blue skies for the rest of the today and into Tuesday night, with highs of 14C today and 13C tomorrow.

Wednesday will see overcast skies from 10am, with the cloudy weather lasting into Thursday.

Highs of 12C are expected on Wednesday, and Thursday will see the temperature dip with highs of 11C.
