THIS WEEK IN 1972: Movie star came home to Portsmouth
Miss Noble, in private life Mrs Irene Philcox, was the daughter of Mr and Mrs P Noble-Airy of Lampeter Avenue, Drayton, whom she visited for the first time in seven years.
For the second successive year, she received a best-actress-of-the-year award in Hollywood, and came to the UK on a dual assignment, accompanied by her husband, who was also in show business.
Miss Noble carried out promotional work, and made personal appearances in connection with Sins of Rachel, an intriguing look at life, death, social morality and love, which she wrote and starred in.
