Wonderful flower and vegetable displays

THE autumn show held at the Lee Community Centre, Lee-on-the-Solent had 55 exhibitors who entered 284 wonderful and beautiful exhibits.

Entries were in 85 of the 97 classes available.

The judges’ comments were very encouraging and they all agreed the exhibits were of a good standard.

The flowers and vegetables made wonderful displays.

As usual, the flower arrangements were beautiful.

A selection of lovely crafts was displayed in the handicraft section.

Mouthwatering entries were in the home craft classes.

It was lovely to see children entering their classes with a lot of hard work put into their entries.

Many thanks to the 2nd Lee Brownies and their leader Brenda Pitt for all her hard work.

The afternoon was very well supported and many thanks go to all the members and local businesses who donated raffle prizes.

The show was very successful because of the hard work of the society’s members behind the scenes.

Congratulations to all who entered and to the trophy winners who were presented with their trophies by the mayor of Gosport Lynn Hook.

The prizewinners were Win Corbett, C Parker, Gloria Brown, Betty Cottrill, Tony Auckland, Brian Barlett, Mark Morrissey, B Gregory, Derek Long, Andy Parrotte, Mick Etherington, Maggie Corke, Kay Bayles, Gillian Davies and Donna Saunders.

The junior and infant winners were Eloise De Cat, Thomas Hayden-Jones, Emily Jacobs, and Abigail Cocks.

The top tray winner was Derek Long.

The top vase award was taken by Mick Etherington.

The next show will be the spring show which will be held on March 25, 2017, at the Lee Community Centre.
