Recalls: warnings issued over two products due to fire risk
The Chartered Trading Standards Institute has posted warnings about two recalled products this week due to fire risk.
Electric blankets were voluntarily recalled from sale by the manufacturer due to a defect which "may cause the blanket to spark or go on fire", while a high street store has recalled a range of cushions after tests revealed that they pose a "flammability risk".
Daewoo Double Sized Electric Blanket (HEA1179) and Single Sized Electric blanket (HEA1178)
Musgrave Group has voluntarily recalled its Daewoo branded single and double sized electric blankets.
A statement from the company read: "A potential safety issue has been identified whereby a manufacturing defect may cause the blanket to spark or go on fire."
For double sized blankets only model number HEA1179 is affected, whilst for single sized blankets only model number HEA1178 is affected by this recall.
Owners of the affected products are advised to stop using them immediately, and to return the item to the store of purchase for a full refund.
