Craneswater beat strong Emsworth side

Craneswater A were able to raise a full side and it helped them to an emphatic 6-3 Portsmouth League win over the capable Emsworth.

Mike Talmondt hit a 46 to open the scoring but it was soon rubbed out by new-boy Bobby Terry.

The next three frames were gobbled up by Rob Kirby, Tony Hansford, with a 32, and Andy Boulton, with a 38, to make it 4-1 then Phil Andrews pulled one back.

The Southsea men won two of the three doubles as Talmondt, Hansford and Kirby won again.

Jason Tame was up to his old tricks, leading his Portchester gang to an easy 7-2 win over Craneswater Q.

Tame ran in a 43 to bag a brace which was matched by Darren Inch and Mark Kingswell.

Copnor A travelled badly again as a five-man Bellair thumped them 6-3 at the cosy Havant venue. A quartet of Tony May, Rob Henley, Lee Harding and Paul Jagger played well throughout to quell some resistance from Lee Eden.

Waterlooville B moved up alongside Copnor D in division two with a stunning 8-1 triumph over Craneswater Q.

Ade Binding beat Terry Hickley to stop the whitewash.Steve Hughes and Heath Smith showed the way and were backed up by Keith Neil, Kelven Connor and Ben Hounsome.

Craneswater R were a lot happier as they beat Waterlooville D 6-3.

Kendal Chivers and Mark Richardson kept their foot down for vital doubles to kill off the early threat from the Wilson duo Steve and Jamie.

Alexandra are ahead in division three and the bowlers edged a 5-4 against Waterlooville C. They won the first four racks, lost the next four before Tony Best won his second partnering Ian Cotton.

Pompey Royals posted a similar score against North End Bowls. Chad Wainwright was the match winner with two frames but Mark Richmond and Ade pledge kept it close throughout.

Cowplain B lost to Leigh Park who are the favourites at this time for the bottom division.

Steve Scott and Dave Riddell shaded it in the doubles after a 3-3 score in the singles.

Cowplain Misfits lost 8-1 to Craneswater Dandy hammered them 8-1 at Southsea.

Dave Weedon managed to stop the rot by beating Tom Sparks.

Mel Davies, Brian Garside,  Nick Hutton, Ioan Moon and Brian Elsegood were all dominant.
