The Blues are expected to tie up a season-long loan for the 20-year-old within the next 24 hours.

Green, who can operate on the left wing or as a number 10, is highly-regarded by the Championship club.

However, the loan arrivals of wingers Anwar El Ghazi and Yannick Bolasie have knocked him down the pecking order.

And Villa boss Bruce believes a period at Fratton Park can help Green.

Bruce told the Birmingham Mail: '˜I've decided to let him (Green) go and get some games under his belt.

'˜After signing the recent (wingers) it will benefit him.

'˜I hope he goes and becomes a big success. We will then see how he is in January.'

Green missed a large chuck of last season through injury, yet has made five appearances this season, including two starts.
