The Pompey Supporters’ Trust chairman confirmed 350 fans who pledged to the scheme have yet to pay the additional £900 required to purchase a share.

However, they have not asked for their initial £100 payments back, either.

If they were to convert their pledges, an additional £350,000 would be made available to the Trust.

And Brown has revealed Blues boss Whittingham could be the main benefactor of any upturn in donations.

‘Undoubtedly, some of that money could be used to enhance the playing budget,’ said Brown.

‘There will be a mixture of ways in which that money is utilised but some of the money would be made available to Guy to improve his squad.

‘We understand it’s possible some people’s circumstances have changed and they might not be able to fulfil their pledge.

‘But there must be plenty of people within that 350 who are still able to convert.

‘They’ve been shown what is possible and that we can take over the football club.

‘We really need that money that was pledged to us to help ensure a secure and strong future for the football club.’

Brown was full of praise for Pompey fans who had already converted and purchased shares, now totalling £2.247m.

He said: ‘The percentages of people who have converted their pledges into full shares have been excellent.

‘These are people who believe in what we are trying to do and recognise the achievements made so far.

‘It would be great if some other supporters who pledged £100 would do the same.’
