Gosport Borough overcame the challenge of Maidenhead and terrible weather conditions to secure a 2-1 National League South win, courtesy of two second-half goals from Justin Bennett.

It was another come-from-behind victory for Alex Pike’s team, who mastered the gale-force wind and rain far better than their visitors who had earlier gone ahead through Harry Pritchard.

The win keeps Gosport in fourth at a crucial stage of the season.

The Hawks pushed National League Grimsby all the way before exiting the FA Trophy 3-0 at Blundell Park.

After a goalless first half, the hosts made the breakthrough on 72 minutes, with two further late goals condemning the gutsy National League South visitors.

Bognor’s FA Trophy heroics continued today as they deservedly held National League South side Sutton to a 0-0 draw in the third round to earn a home replay on Tuesday night.
