The striker, who missed the Blues' Checkatrade Trophy clash against Tottenham under-21s with a knee injury, has been back in full training this week.

Oli Hawkins has been Pompey boss Kenny Jackett's preferred option to lead the line this season but Pitman will be back available to push for a place at Glanford Park.

The striker has been suffering with a groin but is expected to have recovered when Pompey welcome Walsall to Fratton Park on Tuesday.

Jackett said: 'Brett Pitman is fine, he's been training all week and is fit and available.

'For Joe Mason the weekend will come a little bit too quick for him.

'My expectation is that he will be fit for Walsall.'

Pompey lead the way in League One while Scunthorpe are 17th.
