The former Blues hitman played up front for the Whites in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Kenny Jackett’s outfit because of a lack of attacking options.

The Salisbury boss savoured putting his boots on again at the age of 51 – five years after ending his playing career with Gosport Borough.

With the Whites short of troops in the final third, Claridge is pondering to sign himself on for his side’s Southern League division one south & west 2017-18 campaign.

He told the Salisbury Journal: ‘Because we are a player short up front, I might sign on this year – just in case.

‘I was a bit rusty, but I did some good things and I did some bad things. I really enjoyed it, actually.

‘Preferably, I would have liked a little bit more of the ball in areas where you can hurt the opposition and with less running.

‘But I didn’t let anyone down. I didn’t embarrass myself.’
