But Cook warned the comprehensive success at Brunton Park will only mean something if they cash in with two games at home next week.

Pompey moved up to fourth - three points off their opponents with a game in hand - after the win.

Three goals in the final 19 minutes did the damage against Keith Curle’s men as Cook was rewarded with his brave switch to a 3-5-2 formation.

Gary Roberts and first Blues goals from Amine Linganzi and Jack Whatmough did the damage.

Cook said: ‘I’ll enjoy the trip back but now it’s a big game Tuesday against Morecambe.

‘We’re allowed to be happy tonight because it’s a really good performance.

‘It’s a clean sheet and three goals away from home. We’ll be alright in games like that.

‘I would like to say I’m a tactical genius (with the formation change) but I was dithering for ages!

‘Let’s enjoy the game and have a safe trip back - and then get ready for Tuesday.’
