Covers extend Pompey support

Covers will continue to be an official club partner with their branding appearing on the team’s kit and stadium perimeter boards.

Anna Mitchell, head of sponsorship and commercial partnerships at Portsmouth FC, said: ‘We’re delighted that Covers will be extending their support of Portsmouth FC for the next two years and we would like to thank them for their commitment to the club. We look forward to continuing our work together.’

Steve Weston, Covers sales director, said: ‘At Covers we have a great love of football. We are absolutely delighted to be continuing our sponsorship of Portsmouth FC and are very proud to be supporting such a legendary club.

‘We look forward to being part of the team’s future success.’

In the late 1990s, Covers sponsored the South Stand opposite the dugout.

Ben Gale, of Covers, said: ‘Portsmouth FC shares a number of Covers values, being a family friendly club which supports the local community.’

To celebrate the new sponsorship, the firm will be hosting a ‘meet and greet’ session with Pompey players at their depot on Norway Road on Tuesday, February 2.

Visitors to the site from 2pm to 4pm will have the chance to take their photograph with some of the team, as well as get autographs and win one of four signed Portsmouth FC shirts and a ticket to a home game.

Ms Mitchell added: ‘The players are really looking forward to having the opportunity to meet some of Covers’ customers as well as pose for photographs.

‘We really value the support we receive from all of our fans and this is the perfect way for us to show our appreciation.’

Covers timber and builders merchants have been in operation for more than 165 years.

They have a chain of depots throughout the south coast which are open to the trade and to the public.

They specialise in timber and building products, but also supply a wide range of products and services for home DIY.
