He's scored three goals to date, with his form keeping the likes of Joe Mason and Louis Dennis out of the team.

Evans has been a versatile player for Pompey since arriving in 2015. He spent the majority of the 2016-17 League Two title-winning campaign at right-back under Paul Cook.

And the fans' favourite is enjoying his latest remit playing just off the striker.

Evans said: '˜It's another different role '“ another different position!

'˜I'm enjoying it. It's difficult sometimes at home I suppose the way teams set up at times.

'˜You've got to try other ways to get on the ball and get involved in the game and that's something I'm becoming accustomed to.

'˜I'm enjoying it and if I keep playing there I'll score more goals and be involved in a few more goals.

'˜I'm not even too sure how it came about. The manager played me there for a game or two, we got a couple of results and stayed there.

'˜It's up to the manager in terms of the way he wants to play and his way or thinking but hopefully I'll continue to play there.

'˜There are not many positions I haven't played in.

'˜I've got left centre-half and goalkeeper left!'
