The Blues have triumphed in six of their seven away matches in all competitions this season.

That includes 13 points from a possible 15 in League One, consisting of an impressive victory at promotion rivals Peterborough.

The Blues have earned three more points on the road compared to Fratton Park '“ a place where they are now without a win in three matches.

And Evans has his own theories why results are better on their travels.

He said: '˜It's something I've found quite a lot since being at the club. When you go away, teams set up differently and set up to attack.

'˜Whereas when they come to Portsmouth they sit in a little bit more and it's more difficult to break down.

'˜Maybe it's just a coincidence that we are not performing quite as well at home, I'm not sure.

'˜But away from home the games seem to be a lot more open and you can get teams on the counter-attack a lot more. At home you have to try to break down two banks of four or a four and a five.

'˜It's actually a similar sort of game plan on our travels. We set up with the same formation and try to play the same way.

'˜Teams tend to try to attack us more and we can pick them off by counter-attacking a lot more fluently.

'˜When you represent Portsmouth at Fratton Park, you always fancy yourself for a result. It just so happens that we seem to be getting results away from home more than at home.

'˜Last season we actually got a decent result at AFC Wimbledon. Prior to that, I've always struggled to get something there. It has always been a tough place.'

The Wombles are one place above the League One relegation zone, with two wins in their past 13 games.

And, for the time being, Pompey don't have to concern themselves with home pressures which appear to be building.

Evans added: '˜A lot of teams and a lot of clubs' biggest games are when they come to Portsmouth, so when they leave with a point they are probably happy.

But we haven't really played many of the top-half teams at Fratton so far this season, so we'll have to see what happens when the bigger boys came along.'
