Former Portsmouth triallist will have point to prove for BarnsleyÂ

Given the number of triallists Kenny Jacket ran the rule over following his 2017 arrival, it's unlikely Pompey fans can name all of them.Â

From the first day of pre-season when Lawrie Wilson turned up for training, to Jonathan Douglas featuring for the reserves against Leicester under-23s, there was a high turnover.

Mohamed Maouche was also given a Premier League Cup run-out, likewise Wales international Adam Henley and Thomas Juel-Neilsen.

Meanwhile, you can add Paul Paton and Ceykan Karagozlu to the list of those unsuccessful in their pursuit of a Fratton Park deal.

Yet one former free agent who trained with the Blues will be hoping to prove Jackett wrong on Saturday.

Victor Adeboyejo spent time at Pompey's Roko base in October 2017 after leaving Leyton Orient.

Like so many before and after him, though, the Nigerian wasn't offered a contract.

However, the striker subsequently impressed Barnsley enough to be handed a three-year deal.

He didn't make a first-team appearance as the Tykes were relegated from the Championship last season.

But Adeboyejo has been playing his part in their push for promotion this campaign.

The 20-year-old has featured 16 times in all competitions, scoring four goals.

He is touch and go to face Pompey as he attempts to shake off a knee injury.

Nevertheless, he'll be desperate to be fit for the visit of the Blues and prove to Jackett that he was one that slipped through the net.
