The hosts had to play with 10-men for more than 70 minutes after the full-back was shown a straight red card following his lunge tackle on Matt Lench after 19 minutes.

Hawks were particularly unimpressed by the reaction of the Slough players as they surrounded referee Jason Richardson before he dismissed McLennan.

Despite being a man light for the most part, striker Tommy Wright had a couple of chances either side of the break to win it for the hosts.

Although Lench squandered a great chance for Slough late on but the points were shared as it ended in stalemate.

Slough were quick to settle and fired a couple of early warnings in the opening 10 minutes.

Forward Paul Hodges was slipped through for the visitors after four minutes but goalkeeper Ross Worner was equal to his effort.

It was Josh Jackman who was next to come close, firing just wide having received a pass from Warren Harris on the right hand corner of the area five minutes later as the hosts had a couple of early scares.

Hawks were then left aggrieved as they were reduced to 10 men on 19 minutes. McLennan lunged in on Matt Lench with the Slough players surrounding referee Jason Richardson before he brandished a red card to the full-back.

Now a man down, defender Benny Read was providing a vital outlet down the right and one rampaging run nearly resulted in the 10-man hosts going ahead on 33 minutes. Yet, the full-back's cross could only be flicked wide by Danny Kedwell.

Hawks looked comfortable on the whole even with a man less and could have gone in front a minute before the break. Forward Wright burst his way through two players, going through on goal, only to skew his effort from 18 yards just wide of the post.

Wright then sparked the second half into life on 66 minutes following a sedate opening spell after the restart. The striker received the ball with his back to goal before spinning, beating a man and firing in a curling shot from 20 yards which was parried away by Jack Turner.

It was the Hawks who were looking the most likely and then spurned another chance 20 minutes from time. Wright showed great pace to latch onto Worner's long kick before spinning his man and picked out Josh Tayor. The winger took the ball in his path but Slough stopper Turner was out quickly to smother his effort.

The game was now beginning to get stretched and Worner was called into a minute later, keeping out Lench's fierce drive from the edge of the area.

Lench continued to pose a real threat down the right and he was a golden chance to fire Slough ahead after 81 minutes. Aaron Kuhl's clever pass played him in behind although he skewed horribly wide.

But neither side could find a way through and Hawks had manager Paul Doswell shown a yellow card in the closing stages as frustrations boiled over.
