Gypes: We don’t fear Donny

The Pompey defender insists his team can go to the Keepmoat Stadium and surprise the League One table-toppers tomorrow.

Gyepes summed up the growing confidence flowing through his team as he promised the meeting with Brian Flynn’s men holds no undue concerns for the Blues.

Doncaster have lost just one of their past seven match and are three points clear at the head of the table.

But Pompey’s form is also improving, with one defeat in six before Tuesday’s loss at Leyton Orient.

Gyepes revealed the mood has lifted around the club as his side show increasing signs of becoming a settled unit.

And that has allowed a greater belief to develop amongst the players.

Gyepes said: ‘We don’t care about them being at the top. We care about our football.

‘We go there believing we can win and believing something can happen.

‘When we go there we’ll give it our best and feel we can get a good result.

‘They are a good team and are leaders, but we don’t care about where we go at the moment.

‘We know we are in good form and definitely have a chance to win the game.

‘We have a good team now and we feel we have a chance against anyone.

‘I’m really, really happy to be part of this team now.

‘I’m proud to be part of this club.’

Gyepes believes Pompey’s loss at Orient in midweek doesn’t stall the impetus they have been building of late.

The Hungarian says the decent performance at the Matchroom Stadium means there’s confidence moving forward.

And he has been enthused by the manner in how Pompey are now carving out chances more consistently.

Patrick Agyemang and David Connolly’s presence up front has been key to that increased cutting edge.

Gyepes feels that has contributed to the increased confidence in his side.

He said: ‘It was disappointing on Tuesday because we were by far the better side. We deserved much more than what we got, but this is football.

‘There are a lot of positive things to take from the game.

‘You have some positive games and things change.

‘When you lose you feel upset and disappointed.

‘But we are showing character and dominated Tuesday’s game.

‘We showed how we are working every day now.

‘It’s also always good if you have a player who can score, and actually score from nothing like David (Connolly).

‘That’s what we have needed so far along with players who work hard.

‘Pat (Agyemang) can make trouble for sides because he’s strong.

‘He makes things much easier for David. We are making chances now.’
