Hawks must not let Bognor get further ahead

LEE BRADBURY is urging the Hawks to make the most of home comforts against Harrow Borough in tonight's Ryman League premier division encounter (7.45pm).

The hosts need to get back to winning ways to maintain the pressure on league-leaders Bognor who are also in action when they host Leiston tonight.

Weekend results saw the Rocks open up a four-point gap at the top and Bradbury doesn’t want to see them get any further ahead.

He said: ‘We have got three home games on the bounce now and must look to make the most of them.

‘There are six games left and we have to give it everything we have got.

‘We are looking to win the title but ultimately the target is promotion.

‘In recent games we have dominated possession and chances without being able to make it count.

‘We have to take our chances when they come along.

‘It is frustrating we have lost a couple of strikers to injury at the wrong time.

‘All season I have had four to choose from but that is no longer the case because of injuries to Alfie Rutherford and Matt Paterson.

‘That is why I am looking to get someone in before Thursday’s transfer deadline.’

Bradbury is also keen to see his team avenge the defeat they suffered at Harrow Borough two weeks ago.

It was another occasion when the Hawks battered the opposition for much of the game but paid for careless defensive mistakes.

They expect to be better this time and are boosted by the return of Dan Strugnell and Jordan Rose.

Strugnell came through an hour on his return at Needham Market while Rose played the whole game.

Rose gives the home side a bigger physical presence at the back.

Apart from wanting his team to get it right Bradbury is also calling on the officials to do their job.

He is angry that they had a goal wiped out, incorrectly in his eyes, during the 1-1 draw at Needham Market.

‘I have watched the video and there is no way there was an offside in there,’ said Bradbury.

‘That decision cost us two points, we are not looking for any favours we just need the officials to do their job properly and get things correct.

‘At this stage of the season it really matters.’

The Hawks are without Rutherford, Paterson and Andreas Robinson who all seem set to miss two weeks.

It is a big blow to have the trio all sidelined at such a key time and Bradbury is looking to bring in reinforcements.

‘It is a time to show our character and carry on,’ added the Hawks boss.

‘We need to keep putting the pressure on Bognor.’
